HULLHARP

Our first blog- written by Natalie Cutsforth

Where do I start!!!!.... It has been so busy since we moved in here. Moving day back in August was chaotic but run with military precision due to my organisational over load personality! Seeing the clients faces was such an amazing privilege. Going from Dock House to a brand new purpose built building, I'm sure you can imagine their delight!!!

8 months on now and the building is starting to feel more lived in. It was all a bit clinical and new at first and although it is still looking lovely the "lived in" atmosphere and sense of family is quick emerging. I remember in the first couple of weeks spending most of my time walking around trying to find people, compared to what we are used to it was just so big!!

Joining forces with Riverside ECHG has been a welcome addition to the HULLHARP family and we are all now functioning (almost) as one big team. Getting used to the differences in working was a challenge for everyone at first but slowly and surely we are adopting each others ways things are starting to be a bit more fluid.

Lots of exciting stuff has already happened

  • Our first homeless pet being booked into the building
  • The open day where lots of external agencies and VIP's came and had a look around
  • We were invited to the Riverside ECHG Residents Day which was lots of fun
  • Positive move on rates have been getting better and better and we are seeing lots of people moving to somewhere sustainable and suitable which is always a great feeling.
  • Winning (and loosing) football tournaments
  • I've managed to quit smoking (sort of)
  • One of our staff received a long awaited start date for the police which meant a bit of a shuffle round and a couple of new members joined the team.
  • There's been Poker matches, room competitions, Arts and craft afternoons, coffee mornings, quizes and lots and lots of things going on with the residents.

AND theres lots of exciting things we're looking forward to....

  • 18th May External Agencies brunch. We've invited lots of people form various agencies we work with to come along, meet the team and have a bite to eat.
  • 3rd Floor (the residents I key work) have 4 people all waiting for keys to properties
  • 1st floor are in the same position with several clients just waiting for move on dates
  • We are all going to be having a team building day, HULLHARP and Riverside ECHG, I have specifically requested nothing that will give me bruises like paintballing (not my cup of tea) I always enjoy food though if we decide to go down that route!!
  • Car boot sale to raise some funds

So as you can tell its all go!!! I'll keep you posted with any more updates and I'm sure some of our other staff member will be adding some blogs too.
